Cedar Crest senior housing is on a 2 acre site at overlooking the Cedar River Valley. The former use of the property was a single family home, which historically was a horse farm. The design utilizes the character of the original farmstead home which has been retained and integrated into the complex as the community space to residents. Features retained in the rehabilitation were the primary layout of the home, the historic millwork, details, leaded glass, stair and spatial volumes.
The 45 units of new construction include 3 stories of housing made up of 34 one-bedroom apartments,11 two-bedroom apartments with underground parking. The new construction preserved existing trees on the knoll and the existing relationships of site and landscape.
