The New York Building was built in 1890 as part of a growing commercial district on the main street of Tower Avenue. This historic district was one of the major centers of trade and commerce on the Great Lakes in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The renovation supports the building’s history with commercial space on the ground floor, and brings 24 contemporary residential units to the upper levels. Each unit is fully accessible and contains living, dining, full kitchens, bathrooms, in-unit washer/dryer, energy efficient furnace and central air, along with the historic fabric of intricate millwork, panel doors, high ceilings and historic large and ornate windows.
